The region, which crosses Russia, Alaska, Norway and Greenland, is estimated to hold billion barrels of oil equivalent, more oil and gas than Iran and enough to meet the world's entire.   In , production of crude oil and lease condensate grew by %, and production of dry natural gas grew by %. Most of Russia's crude oil and natural gas production occurs in West Siberia, a part of central Russia that stretches from the northern border of .

Western Siberian Oil and Gas Basin the largest oil and gas basin in the world; situated within the Western Siberian Lowland in the territory of Tiumen’, Omsk, Kurgan, and Tomsk oblasts and parts of Sverdlovsk, Cheliabinsk, and Novosibirsk oblasts and Krasnoiarsk and Altai krais, in the RSFSR. Area, approximately million sq km. Technically the. Oil production hit record post-Soviet levels in , and Russia is still a titan of the gas world, particularly with large LNG projects coming on stream. This production rise mean plenty of projects - old and new - are seeing heavy investment and supply of materials, technology and services from around the world.

In Russia was the richest country in gold reserves. In Russia there are five major oil and gas provinces located in European part of the country and in Western Siberia in 10 regions and 11 provinces and republics: West Siberian, Volga-Urals, Timan-Pechora, . Russia prioritized the exploitation of a few super-large gas fields (Medvezhye, Urengoy, Yamburg, and Zapalyarniye gas fields) in the north of the West Siberia Basin, which made it a great gas-producing country (Figures and ). The Medvezhye gas field was the first super-large gas field put into development in the West Siberia Basin in

The primary objective of this study is to assess the oil and gas potential of the West Siberian Basin of Russia. The study does not analyze the costs or technology necessary to achieve the estimates of the ultimate recoverable oil and gas. This study uses reservoir data to estimate recoverable oil and gas quantities which were aggregated to the field level.

Oil and Gas Resources of the Northern West Siberian Mesozoic Composite Total Petroleum System of the West Siberian Basin Province, Russia, By Christopher J. Schenk Chapter Q of.

The Circum-Arctic Resource Appraisal. Edited by T.E. Moore and D.L. Gautier. Professional Paper U.S. Department of the Interior. U.S. Geological SurveyAuthor: Christopher J. Schenk. The assessed mean undiscovered resources are billion barrels of oil, trillion cubic feet of gas, and billion barrels of natural gas liquids.

The largest known oil reserves are in the Bazhenov-Neocomian Total Petroleum System that includes Upper Jurassic and younger rocks of the central and southern parts of the basin. The oil resources in the West Siberian basin are extremely large in absolute terms.

The US Geological Survey estimates volumes of discovered hydrocarbons in the basin are billion barrels of oil and more that 1, trillion cubic feet of gas.

Estimated ultimate recovery is almost billion barrels of oil. Oil and Gas Resources of the West Siberian Basin, Russia is part of the Energy Information Ad-ministration's (EIA's) Foreign Energy Supply Assess-ment Program (FESAP).

The U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) recently assessed the undiscovered oil and gas potential of the West Siberian Basin Province in Russia as part of the USGS Circum-Arctic Resource Appraisal program. This province is the largest petroleum basin in the world and has an areal extent of about million square kilometers.

It is a large rift-sag feature bounded to the west by the Ural fold belt. Petroleum geology and resources of the West Siberian Basin, Russia: USGS Bulletin G [Ulmshek, Gregory F.] on *FREE* shipping on qualifying offers.

The West Siberian basin is the largest petroleum basin in the world covering an area of about million km2. The basin occupies a swampy plain between the Ural Mountains and the Yenisey River. The West Siberian Basin Province is one of the largest sedimentary basins in the world, with an area of million square kilometers, and the basin ranks first in the world with more than billion barrels of oil-equivalent discovered petroleum.

Russia’s West Siberian basin is the largest petroleum basin in the world. With proven reserves of + BBOE, it will remain a strategic energy resource for the next millennium. New regional maps shed new light on the basin’s evolution and petroleum system.

Approximately tcf (∼48 trillion m 3) of dry gas (>99% methane) reserves and resources occur in western Siberia, mostly in shallow (Cited by: Geological setting.

The West Siberian basin, located in central Russia, is approximately bisected north–south by the Ob River.

U.S. markets could benefit from a proposed pipeline that would carry crude oil from Russia’s West Siberian basin and Timan-Pechora basin westward to a deep-water tanker terminal at Murmansk on the Barents Sea. This could allow for between and million bbl/d of Russian oil exports to reach the United States via tankers withinFile Size: 1MB.
